My dog is hyper, very hard to teach, and doesn’t ever want to listen.
I want to teach him how to do tricks and cuddle like a mushy dog.
How??

I’ve just picked up our new puppy, gotten him home and setup his little play pen. Maybe someone can tell me when and how to start early obedience puppy training? As I know sometimes others wait too long and are faced with a stubborn, messy adolescent dog. I’d like to avoid it because i guess boxer dogs has strong character.

We recently got a little blonde dog, but we’ve yet to name her! She’s part miniature poodle, part terrier. So…does anyone have any cute names? Thanks!

My boyfriend and I have our own dog. We recently got it and we have both been trying to decide whether to send it to training school. We want it to be a hunting dog and obedient. We dont have the time to do it since he works a lot and i couldnt do it myself. Should we save our money or send him to school?

I’m trying hard to teach my dog to be an off-leash dog. She has been very good! But we need to work on her distractions. She doesn’t have any distractions that are so severe that I cannot call her off of them. She can occasionally be called off a squirrel, so I know it is definitely possible to have her as an off leash dog.

Any suggestions on books that deal with training a dog to behave off leash?

There was a local dog breed 100+ years ago that was bred to only have an undercoat, so its fur could be used like wool. (Sheep didn’t exist here) The breed is long extinct, and I’m looking for other breeds with only an undercoat.

Okay, so I’ve heard several facts about dog sledding- both pros and cons- but I’m not sure what to think so I’m asking you guys for some facts on races and things. Is it animal cruelty? Do the dogs enjoy running? Are there abusive mushers and do many dogs die? I want to know everything before I make up an opinion on it. Unfortunately right now all my facts are coming from PETA but I don’t trust them anyways so I’d like to hear from real mushers and sled dog owners!

I am considering using a training collar to teach my dog boundaries. I need to be able to keep her off leash, but she runs off if I let her off the leash. A fence, even an invisible fence, is out of the question as its not my house. I’ve tried teaching her boundaries for the last 5 months but it is not working well. She won’t respond to "come" unless she’s in the mood. I want to use a shock collar but I worry it may be inhumane. Are they effective and are they safe to use?
