My Dad is going to sign my new puppy, Bosco, up for the Petsmart Puppy Training Program. If your puppy took this course, can you please tell me what you thought of it? I would love to know if it will be worth it.

Are there any good places with puppy training classes in Lakewood, California?

I just got a Shetland Sheepdog. He is 11 weeks old. I want a good puppy training class. My vet has one and I know Petsmart does one. Any thoughts would be welcomed.

I feel bad tugging at my dog while training her to loose leash walk?

In my Petsmart beginner education class, we are working on how to loos leash walk. Our trainer told us that when the dog puts tension on the leash, we should give a sharp tug to "correct" them. It worked in the class with only a slight tug, but when we practice, she usually needs a sharper one. I have an 8 year old greyhound who has been through so much. I’m afraid she’ll start hating the leash if all she ever does is get tugged on. Advice?

Is it OK to bring my puppy to training class?

We have a ten week old Shih Tzu puppy who has had her first two vaccinations. Is it OK to bring her to PetSmart for puppy training, or should we wait until she has them all. I tend to think we should wait, but just making sure.

Where should I take my puppy for training classes?

I live in South Florida and have a 6 month old beagle puppy that is extremely stubborn. I never took him to puppy classes and I want to start. I mainly need to teach him to stay, and come when I tell him to, and not run out the door if he sees it open. I’ve heard of PetCo and PetSmart puppy classes but not always with the best reviews. Does anyone know of any other puppy training? To be more specific, I’m looking around the Coconut Creek/Boca area. Thanks!

What can I expect to pay for puppy training classes for a lab puppy?

The breeder I am interested in getting a labrador from requires that the pup be enrolled inatleast a "kindergarten" puppy training class…

I havent done any research on this yet, but I know classes are offered at petsmart. Roughly, what do you think this will cost?

Were just trying to get all the information on what her needs will be and what we need and want to buy for her before she is even born, so we are already prepared, and its always a good idea to have an idea of costs on each thing.
Misery, as Ive said, I am required to take her to the training classes.

Have you used the puppy training class at PetSmart?

How well did it work for you? How much did you spend on classes?

I’m all set to get a Mini Schnauzer around the beginning of December and I want to bring her up right. I’ve had a Schnauzer before but this will be my first puppy on my own. I was looking at the training classes at PetSmart and I’m curious to know what expieriences (if any) you’ve had with them. I’m open to other suggestions, preferably something with other dogs so she can socialize. I am in the Denver Metro area, FYI, and I am on a budget, so nothing too extravagant! lol Thanks!

What are some good dog training books or DVD?

I currently have my 5 month old in puppy class. I was going to go through all 4 classes at Petsmart, but now I’m thinking I could save about 0.00 and teach my dog the same things (and probably more), if I invest in a good book or DVD. Any suggestions? I’d prefer a DVD, but books are fine too. That way I can also apply the training to our other two dogs at the same time.
I do have a clicker… I was very impressed with how easy and quickly she responded to it. I take my dogs to the dog park so they do a lot of socializing there. I’m just not very impressed with the training I’m getting. Asking questions is hard, because I think the trainer is more distracted than the dogs. :-)
