The breeder I am interested in getting a labrador from requires that the pup be enrolled inatleast a "kindergarten" puppy training class…

I havent done any research on this yet, but I know classes are offered at petsmart. Roughly, what do you think this will cost?

Were just trying to get all the information on what her needs will be and what we need and want to buy for her before she is even born, so we are already prepared, and its always a good idea to have an idea of costs on each thing.
Misery, as Ive said, I am required to take her to the training classes.

My puppy is a springer cross and is 6 months he barks at everything, pulls on the lead and play bites, i was just wondering if anyone can help with training tips, i did buy a couple of puppy training books that we used when we first brought him but he has been really well behaved untill now, so the tips in the books are only for really young dogs. Do dogs normally get like this at 6 months?

Thank you so much for any help!

We have a 9 week old sheltie. He’s smart, but we cannot get him into puppy training until April. In the meantime I would like to work with him on very simple commands—like no, come, and fetch. Does anyone know of sites that have ideas on training these simple commands?

Thanks!

Hey, I’m in the process of putting together a website full of free articles regarding dog training. One of my stupid New Year resolutions.

I was going to concentrate on providing tips for people with problem dogs (mainly adults, because people love puppies). The feedback I have from friends is that I should target Puppy training issues ?

So what do I concentrate on – Puppies or Adult Dogs ?
Sorry, here’s what I’ve got so far, I think it’s coming on : http://www.advicedogtraining.com.

How well did it work for you? How much did you spend on classes?

I’m all set to get a Mini Schnauzer around the beginning of December and I want to bring her up right. I’ve had a Schnauzer before but this will be my first puppy on my own. I was looking at the training classes at PetSmart and I’m curious to know what expieriences (if any) you’ve had with them. I’m open to other suggestions, preferably something with other dogs so she can socialize. I am in the Denver Metro area, FYI, and I am on a budget, so nothing too extravagant! lol Thanks!

I am not ready for puppies yet since my dog was just diagnosed with a terminal disease. I cried for days but have come to terms with the fact that he doesn’t have super long to live. I love dogs and want another GSD or two. I did so much wrong the first time even in choosing an older puppy with health and tempermant problems to starting with bad trainer and not so great vet.
This time I have already know who to call for a puppy or two and who will train it as they come highly recommended from my vet who is also highly recommeded.
I am not sure if I want to get one puppy at a time about a year apart or two together but either way I want to read up on health care and training methods and any other resourses that would help me be the BEST pet owner possible.
And yes I am home enough for two dogs right now I don’t work and my husband does and I am really only looking for part time work on a different shift so most of the time someone would be home with the puppies.

I’m thinking about getting a puppy, and I want to train it very well, so I thought I’d buy a book ahead of time. I’ve been looking on amazon.com for a good book on training, but there are so many! I don’t want a book that is so stern that I can’t have fun with the puppy and the training process, but I do want a well behaved puppy that will listen to me–does anyone have any recommendations?

I am trying to housebreak my puppy and teach him not to chew on everything. I’ve tried the training pads, he just chews them up. And he’s got more chewtoys then he knows what to do with, but he’d still rather chew on my electrical wires then his chewtoys. Any suggestions on how to break him of these bad habbits?

I recently got a Pit Bull puppy. She is six weeks old and I have never worked on training a dog before other than house training. When I try to get her to work with me for sitting etc she just wants to play and bite, I know this is normal puppy behavior. What I am wondering is does anyone have tips specifically for training pit bull puppies?
